Taking on a Novel

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.

Writing is personal. Always. It’s taking that fluid voice inside of you and making it a solid story so you can show it to someone else.

This blog is a story, too – a story about writing. About pulling together the threads in your head and somehow weaving them into a decent fabric someone might look at and say, “Yeah, that’s nice!”

In this blog, I’ll share the process I used to bring a novel to completion. This won’t be a step-by-step guide. Far from it. This will be a place to collect thoughts as I have them.

The first set of posts will cover ideation – that is, where did the story come from? Following posts will discuss process – taking those disparate ideas and pulling them together. Some will discuss tools and techniques I found helpful or harmful. I would love to someday add posts about self-publishing too, but I’m not quite there yet at the time of writing this post.

So, in that vein, is there something you’d like to know about? Let me know in the comments!
